I was in town on business and decided to check out Buck Rubs, mostly because of the overall favorable (albeit few) reviews but also because it's in a smaller, working-class town as opposed to the city. These clubs usually tend to be more comfortable and less glitzy, and Buck Rubs definitely is not glitzy. It's located in a heavy industrial area of Reading, off the main road but in a safe location. Both the exterior and interior are plain, no flashing signs or lights inside or out. The club is clean but sparse, no attempt seems to have been made to dress it up. There were a few TVs showing sport, but aside from that it's a big room with a bar along one side and a stage at the end. A smaller stage at the other end was not in use. The club is BYOB, 18 and over.

I arrived at about 8:30pm, paid the $5 cover and took a seat near the stage. There were exactly 13 dancers and maybe 30-40 patrons. Of the 13 dancers there was one who was very slender and flat-chested (but cute), one at least 100 pounds overweight, and one who was just plain fugly. The rest were attractive but most were overweight to one degree or another. Many had tattoos and/or piercings, a few had baby-birthing tummies and scars. The better half of the girls might have rated as high as 7 on my scale because I like curvy girls, but the rest drag it down to no better than 5.

The program is that each girl dances a two-song set, many get nude but some do not. After their set they come down and circulate through the room giving dollar dances at the tables. According to the signs they offer $20 VIP dances and a champagne room for $125, but you wouldn't know it from the dancers - they showed no indication of having any interest in private dances whatsoever, but were completely content with the money they made on stage and doing dollar dances. In the 3 1/2 hours I was there only one dancer offered me a private dance, a petite little brunette named Lindsay who dances there a couple nights a month. She's very sweet and came by a few times but I stalled until it was too late, much to my regret. Maybe I'll catch up with her at her usual club, Adult World in Harrisburg.
