Nothing happening in this club when...
Nothing happening in this club when I stopped in on a Saturday afternoon. Nothing. I was the only customer anywhere near the place. I've been here a few times, have never liked it, and don't know why I keep coming back. No, I know why. It's on the way to Thee Gentlemens Club (which used to be Expose, one of the better clubs this side of the Mississippi), another club don't know why I try to visit. What was that Einstein quote about insanity? In any case, there's one bad review I didn't write because I managed to walk in unbothered for a cover (when I was one of two customers) so I gave the place a pass even with the lousy SD air dance I received.
This time, however, I walk in and see two girls over by the lobby booth. One was working in the booth and the other was a hostess as well but wasn't on duty. I was waiting for the "go on in" since I'd already noticed the place was empty, but instead got hit up for about a $10 cover. Any cover for an empty club with no dancer in sight is out of the question. Example: I paid a reduced cover at Skin in Los Angeles the next night, after the guy at the door warned me there were only two girls with more on the way. Not hard to do the right thing by acknowledging the dead air. After getting pinged for a cover (which I didn't pay), I took a quick look over at the empty club and flashed a grin. With the economy the way it is, I'm not really expecting a teenager to have the idea to waive the fee with witnesses (and risk getting her ass chewed for it). I was thinking maybe one of the grown ups wandering around might let her off the hook, though. No dice.
Not only that, but then I hear the DJ cue some music and (horror) put a dancer on stage. So now I don't feel like I can walk out without tipping since some poor dancer got flushed out from the back on my account. At least she (Angel of the blonde hair, tight body, and bouncy personality) was cute. So I let the door girl know that I'm going to tip the dancer and then leave. She says OK as I walk past the bouncer and head toward the stage. I get to the stage, politely let Angel know that I won't be staying but really wanted to tip her. Got a huge smile and a quickie show as she was putting herself in position for a tip. The young bouncer then walks up entirely too close to me from behind and says something about needing to pay the cover if I'm going to watch the show. He got a slightly sharp, but respectful repeat that I'm going to tip the dancer and then leave. Which I did while he retreated to the DJ booth, depositing said tip and heading for the exit.
