I'm not quite sure what the prior reviewer meant about "taxi" dances. I have been here four times in the past year, and each time, the girls have danced with me for free. In fact, the girls who are fun to be around will generally pull you up to the dance floor, because they like to dance.

Unlike the old stand-bys, Adelita's and Chicago Club, this is more of a local bar. The girls are not, on average, as good-looking as the girls at AB or CC, but they are more friendly, and generally provide a better experience upstairs. In fact, they are much more likely to sit with you for an extended-time without trying to get you upstairs. I would compare Adelita's to a car dealership, and BT to a college bar. One drawback is that the girls are far less conversant in English, so it is more of a disadvantage if you don't know Spanish. Another problem is that the waiters are absolutely relentless in trying to match you with a girl to go upstairs with (perhaps that is why the girls are not pushy about it...they know the waiters are working hard to get them horizontal). The third drawback is that the waiters are frequently trying to leave chips and other snacks at your table, without you noticing immediately, for which you will be charged. So, why is this my favorite TJ bar? Because the girls are very friendly in the bar, they are friendly and accomodating upstairs, and the place is just a lot more laid back than Adelita's. But...it is Mexico. If you are more comfortable with a Disneyland/Hugh Hefner conception of Tijuana--a place that is easy and non-challenging to you as a gringo--then by all means, stay at AB or CC, which will put a lot less stress on your comfort zones. But if you are willing to bend a little bit, and understand that you are a guest in a foreign country, this can be a fun club.

I have repeatedly said that Adelita's should not be reviewed on this board, as it is a bordello, not a strip club. Bar Tropical makes more of a pass at being a strip club. WHen the patrons aren't interesting in dancing, some of the girls will strip on stage. When I was there last, on August 24, one girl sucked a guy's dick (w/ condom) on stage. I later took that girl upstairs. Apparently, as I found, sucking the other guy's dick on stage warmed her up.
