The first club I hit on...
The first club I hit on my Tour of North Carolina. Somewhere out in the sticks between Greensboro and Chapel Hill. When you get there (not that you would) there is a small sign you can see from the road and the club looks like a big box at the end of an unlit dirt parking lot. Maybe it was gravel. Details, details. I walk in because there's no one at the little window and head to the large wooden bar to the right. The small TV mounted to the wall has no programming other than grainy footage of the parking lot. I'm not so kindly told that I couldn't walk right in because it's a membership club. Turns out the whole state is that way, but who knew that at the time. So after watching my license take a little abuse I handed over my $5 and quickly proceeded to regret not walking right back out. Got an energy drink (Monster, the other energy drink) and took a quick look around. Very dark in here. Country bar decor in one large room with the table side split into equal halves by a T-shaped stage. Low height, maybe a foot off the floor if that with a wooden tip rail around the edges. Had a pole about halfway down the runway. Jukebox, no DJ but a DJ booth. There was a big screen, wooden console projection TV sitting on the floor in front of the booth but it wasn't on. No dancers on stage, two as I could tell in the room and both occupied. One more wandered out from the back at some point.
Wound up shooting a game of pool (two level, regulation size tables at $1 a pop) with another guy at the bar since I had a little bit of a drive to the next town and needed to stretch my legs. Got my hat handed to me pretty bad, never a good thing to challenge the locals on their home tables but he seemed friendly enough. Turns out the guy on the next table (shooting with one of the two dancers on the floor) had to take off so a girl freed up before I took off. Shot a game or two with her, and in the meantime another girl walked from in back with a customer on her heels. They looked inseparable, but it was a good thing I figured since they'd been back there so long. The dancers name was Angelina. Not local, from MD. Right as we were heading back to the VIP room the other girl finally got on stage for a song and I tipped her just to see if the guy attached to her hip would have an issue. He didn't. Angelina picked a couple of really long songs (including Winds of Change by the Scorpions that will never sound the same again) and proceeded to grind the hell out of me with a couple of interesting tricks thrown in. They must be an NC thing because a couple of others did the same things around area. Pretty much a no touch policy above the waist from what I saw but the room is private enough that I'll go ahead and say YMMV. Wasn't complaining and I was more in a watching mood anyway that day. Couches were comfy and well traveled and there were mirrors on the ceiling, which we took advantage of with some interested angles.
In all honesty I enjoyed the dances and the chit chat, but unless you're on that desolate stretch of NC-87 passing through this is a place you can skip. Much better spots in the bigger towns. If for some reason you're right there...
