First time I'd set foot in...
First time I'd set foot in this place in well over a decade. Probably closer to 15 years. The entrance has what looks to be a valet, plus a small lobby and possibly even a coat check now (didn't ask). Hard to believe this is the same spot, and I'm not sure how many owners it has gone through since the days I can remember. The place was so well known that even the guy who used to cut my hair (who wasn't from the city) knew about the goings on back then as an unofficial Block Bar. I'll say upfront I don't necessarily dislike the new place, but parking down near Fells Point is a bear on good nights and given the extra hassle factor this club would be far down on my list unless I just happened to be in Fells.
I'd say this club exists mainly for tourists, business types, and out of towners like Goddess up by the stadium, but I did see a couple of patrons that had a "regular" look about them. Heard from staff that the crowd was bigger than a typical Sunday, with 20-30 customers on hand not counting VIPs upstairs. Inside the club are flat screen TVs lining the walls and a decked out main bar right by the entry way. The club is still pretty narrow (it's the end unit in a townhouse style building). It actually seems narrower than before, but I am fairly sure there are more seating areas and more chairs available. It's pretty clear there's been money put into the place and overall the look and feel is definitely more upscale. The main stage is along the right hand wall backed by tall mirrors, complete with what I think are two round bump outs with poles where patrons can sit in a semi circle and tip along. I seem to recall exposed brick in the decor but I might be having flashbacks. Lighting level was good.
One really nice touch is the main stage opens up above to a lofted second level and you can view the main show from either floor. Other places have a split level but you typically have to pay to venture there (not suggesting that). Tipping of bills is permitted off the second level, and if bored you can probably make a game out of landing dollars at interesting places and times. The dance booths and private rooms are on the second level to the far left when you first walk up either staircase. Cameras all over. Big change from before. Opposite to the booths at the other end is the VIP lounge, which I heard is regularly closed but was open that night for a private party. DJ booth is in between but nearer to the lounge side. Not terrible in the talent department. The waitresses and bartenders were nice looking, and one brunette waitress in particular was stunning.
