Sometimes there are things you just don't talk about. I've probably written this review half a dozen times and deleted it. They have beer and liquor here. It's cold. They have girls here. They're not. Didn't look for any peanuts but they probably have those, too. The problem with reviewing a place like this is a patron walks out with one hell of a tale to tell, but the point of the review is whether it's a spot to recommend or not. The regular dances aren't anything you won't find stateside, and maybe for less $$ if you're in a half decent town for clubs. Negotiate. Yes, the head waitress is a tip requesting machine and drives a hard bargain. By the time I left, though, we'd had a good laugh and it's all part of the story. Yes, I've seen the basement and no it isn't for the faint of heart. The previous reviewer was right about one thing, there are plenty of other places in town where you can get the level of service he found. As an FYI, there was a door that was open to the outside on the far wall down there, and people were walking in and out while I was sampling the menu. Am I glad that I checked the place out? Probably, because it is easier for me to say Adelitas is the only destination most of the U.S. club vets will need South of the Border. If you must look for this place, just understand it's off the main strip and the spotters will typically see you before you see them. Think it has a purple awning visible from the Ave, with female silhouettes like those featured on trucker mud flaps. That may sound like criticism, but I actually thought it was a nice touch (who knew I had a soft spot for highway art?). Every place I've gone around TJ I've gone by taxi rather than on foot, and I was able to flag one down pretty easily after I left here in late afternoon. The cab was of the white and green variety, unlike the yellow taxis at the border, but roughly the same price. Take a left when you get out of the alley, walk down a block and there should be a cab stand just off that corner. To cover one last detail, this place gets the nod in one area over AB in that it has a better stage show. But in case you missed it earlier in the review, if you've got the option Adelitas is your place.
