I see review after review talking about how safe it is here. Well my experiences differ. After leaving Adelita's one evening I got into a cab to go back to the border crossing. The cabbie used his cell to call his associates (2 police officers) who "arrested" me shortly after leaving his cab. They knew where I had gotten in the cab & arrested me for beating up a whore at Adelita's & robbing her. I supposedly "fit the description" of the robber.

They never took me to jail. They just kidnapped me, robbed me, and left me miles from the border with no money or cell phone. I took me 3 hours to walk back. At night. Through very bad neighborhoods. When I said something to the US Border Patrol Agent at the border, he told me it happens all the time.

The lesson I learned is never go to Tijuana alone. Always travel in a group! I'm a big tough streetwise guy who has lived in some very tough neighborhoods & they still "arrested" me because I looked like money & I was alone.
