For better or worse, the Artist Cafe is open again. It's at the same location on Iberville with the same sign above the door. It's basically a narrow room with a bar along the left. There's also a small stage behind the bar that -- likely as not -- will be empty.

I arrived around 10:30 on a Tuesday night earlier this month. Took forever to get some attention from either the bartender or the "talent." No Heineken. Bud light was $7.50. Bought Sugar a $9.00 drink. Then she told me the prices to visit the back room -- don't remember the price, maybe $150 or so. She wasn't that attractive, so it was time to move on. There are plenty of other places around Bourbon Street where I would prefer to spend my money.
