Worth A Gamble
I found myself in Gary, Indiana this past Friday, and after consulting this site I decided to give some clubs a shot. Knockouts wasn't far from my I-94 route, so I headed out that way. I pulled in the small parking lot at a few minutes before 2:00 PM, to find that they were just opening, despite the listing on TUSCL saying they open at noon on Friday.
Fortunately, being so early in the day there was no cover. When you enter the club, the bar is to your immediate right. The bathrooms are on the far side of the room. The stage is a very small square stage made to look like a tiny boxing ring. The club has a sports bar feel to it, with ten screens on the wall.
The attractive bar girl charged me a mere $5 for a beer, and I got a seat at one of the several high-top tables. No one was on stage, and for the first ten minutes I saw no sign of dancers. I took the opportunity to use the restroom, and it seemed to me that the urinals were unusually high. I'm reasonably tall, so it wasn't a problem --but if Kevin Hart ever visits the Gary KO, he's going to have to stand on his tip-toes.
