Recent Facelift Worth An Update
Swung by 11:ish on a Thursday night. The exterior of this place has not changed, ugly little bunker of a building on a busy intersection but well lit parking and a discreet rear entrance. I walked in that less conspicuous door and was shocked to find some upgrades!
The thing is, I had always been under the impression that this divey little place was barely holding on and to see that they had invested in moving the stage to the back of the room (it now sits in front of the booths opposite the bar), pulling the video slot machines and replacing them with tables and updating the booths (nothing earth-shattering, just fresh paint and new curtains as far as I could tell) was a very welcome surprise.
But wait, that's not the only surprise and upgrade: the girls! Okay, there were only three ladies on (athletic ebony, tall and busty brunette and a Latina hottie) but I soon learned that two of them had moved down the street from Le Gentlemen when it burned. Quality just kicked up by quite a bit from the previous selection. If any of you remember Le Gentlemen, it was always a smokeshow (RIP). And if any of you remember the previous floor staff of TDR I'm guessing that they're not all good memories. Maybe eye-bleach-kind-of-memory. So, progress.
Anyway, sat down to the bar, there was no cover on this midweek night, I would be surprised to hear that they charged on the weekends, but hey-you never know. Beer was $8/CA after tax, so a decent deal there. I was soon approached by Sabrina (ebony, athletic build, no obvious tats; hottie), veteran of both of the Le Gentlemen locations and an old favorite of mine. She told me that it made sense to her to stay in the area so her former regulars could find her. She also told me that there were a few other girls from the old Le Gentlemen that pulled shifts there from time to time-this is great news for me. Loved that place. After some more chit chat catching up we hit the booth and she quoted me a very reasonable $20/CA per song-worth mentioning that there's no booth fee to the house. After a couple of great grinding songs she gave me the pitch-$200 CBJ and $350 CFS. So, further research is warranted, but those both sounded much higher than anything else that I've heard in the area. That would be at par for the States, mind you and it's not too far from the border and an easy drive so maybe that sounds okay to you but it didn't quite work for me on this particular night.
Relaxing with another beer I was told that Quebec directed TDR and, I expect, the rest of the strip clubs in the region to move the machines away from where the dances take place so now there's a back room where the gambling still takes place-which is good, because most nights that I've been there the gamblers outnumber the dancers and hobbyists by a good two to one margin. Somebody's gotta pay to keep the lights on.
