My first time at Rick's
I hit up Rick's Cabaret New York on a recent Friday evening after work—figured it'd be buzzing but not insane since it was early-ish around 8 PM. The spot is right in the heart of Midtown on West 33rd Street, super convenient if you're coming from Penn Station or the Empire State area. First impressions were solid: the place is impeccably clean—bathrooms sparkling, no spills or grime on tables/floors, and the whole venue has that polished, upscale feel without being pretentious. The vibe is lively and classy; good mix of energy from the stages but still comfortable enough to relax. Lighting is perfect—not too dark to see everything clearly, with nice colored spots on the four stages and softer lights around the seating/booths. Layout works well with multiple levels, easy to move around or grab a spot with a view. Music volume was just right—thumping hip-hop and club tracks from the DJ, who kept the flow going without blasting your ears or letting dead air kill the mood. Safety-wise, zero issues; bouncers are professional and present but not intimidating, thug factor is nonexistent—mostly suits, tourists, and groups of guys out for a good time.
The dancers here are a highlight—strong variety in looks, from petite brunettes to curvy blondes, athletic builds to more voluptuous, different ethnicities and ages mostly 20s-early 30s. Most are approachable without being pushy right away. I ended up chatting with a dancer named Victoria, who caught my eye during her stage set—she's stunning, great smile, long dark hair, toned figure, and moves like she really enjoys performing. We talked for a bit at my table (she's friendly, funny, asks real questions instead of just rushing the sale), and I decided to get a private session with her upstairs. It was worth it—she was engaging the whole time, made it feel personal and fun rather than scripted, great conversation mixed with solid dances. No complaints there; she delivered exactly what made the experience memorable. Other staff were on point too: bartenders quick with drinks, waitresses attentive without hovering, door guys chill. Crowd that night was decent-sized but not overcrowded—mix of solo dudes and small bachelor-ish groups, everyone behaved.
Prices are typical for a high-end NYC spot but fair given the quality and location. Cover was $20 when I walked in (they sometimes have specials or waive for early arrival, but Friday night it's standard). Drinks were $12 for a beer and $18-20 for mixed drinks/cocktails—I stuck to a couple beers and bottled water. Lap dances on the main floor are $20 each (quick and open, light contact but enjoyable). The private/VIP session with Victoria was for half an hour duration which cost me between $400 to $500. No hidden fees or aggressive upsells that night. Overall, it's one of the better-run clubs in Manhattan—clean, safe, attractive and friendly dancers (shoutout to Victoria for making my visit stand out), reasonable pricing for what you get. Definitely heading back next time I'm in the city.
