sinclair's Review

I went to Maximus Gentlemen’s Club at 21:05 on a Saturday night. The last TUSCL review was eight years ago, so I really didn’t know what to expect. There was a $20 cover at the door, which seemed steep for Victoria. Upon walking in, the main stage is on the left wall. A secondary stage is to your right along the front wall. Both stages are surrounded by a tip rail and contain a single pole. The bar is straight ahead on the back wall. The private dance booths are on the right side of the room, just past a lone pool table. It is not a separate room, but an area they built with dividers. There is an outdoor smoking patio accessed through a door behind the podium where customers pay the cover charge. A heavily-tattooed esse with one hand was manning the deejay booth. He was playing some old school hip hop, top 40, and reggaeton. Sincweisers were $5.25. Michelob Ultras were slightly more at $6. My friend was paying $8.75 for Crown Royal. The ATM has a maximum withdrawal of $200 and charges a $14 fee.

Dancers did two song sets on stage, stripping down to topless. Only the main stage was used. The secondary stage stayed empty all night. Stage contact seems to be limited to sliding dollars into dancers’ g-strings. There were only four dancers working. Three dancers were Cubans that spoke very little English. It was easier for me to just speak to them in Spanish. The fourth dancer was a white woman that was almost as wide as she was tall. There were no dancers that one would consider athletic or slim. All dancers looked to be north of thirty years old. There were no nulliparous entertainers. I was broncin’ buck out of luck. Supposedly, Maximus will occasionally bring in feature dancers to perform.
