I had an upcoming LA work trip. I did some research beforehand on clubs I wanted to try out while I was there. LA has this cool thing where a lot of the clubs have an online roll call. They’ll tell you the girls that will be working that day, and for a lot of the girls, they’ll have a picture. I was looking at the roll call for Rio, and the dancers Cinnamon and Sky really piqued my interest. I decided then that Rio was going to be one of the clubs I tried out while in LA.

I arrived at Rio last Saturday night at around 10pm. They do a pat down and scan your ID. $20 cover, plus 1 drink minimum. Apparently Rio now opens at 8pm each day. I was told it used to be open in the afternoon. I would guess it’s not open in the afternoons anymore because it was too slow in the afternoon, the club decided it’s not worth it to be open in the afternoon. Anyways, Rio is a juice bar, so no alcohol. The non alcoholic drinks here are $10. LA has this rule that if you serve alcohol, the girls can’t be nude, they have to stay topless. The girls get nude at the juice bars. The alcohol clubs have to close at 2am, the non alcohol clubs stay open till 4 or 5 am. Looking at LA’s club listings on TUSCL, it seems the majority of LA clubs are juice bars.

You walk in, there’s a small bar, there are some seats, then some benches (or something that looks like that) as well that you can sit on. There is 1 stage. I walked in, it was pretty slow. 5 customers total, 3 of the customers were tipping on stage, then the other customer was sitting on one of the seats. The DJ was pretty annoying, bitching and complaining about not tipping on stage. How it works with me is I tip which girls I’m interested in, I don’t tip just any girl just for the hell of it. Also the waitress was annoying as hell, constantly coming around every couple of minutes asking if I wanted to buy a girl a drink. At the bar, there was a sign that said something like the club gets 10% of your singles if you get singles. The music was all hip hop and R&B, the girls did 2 song stage sets. More customers were trickling throughout the night, most of the customers were Latin or black, I only saw one white customer. This is definitely more of an urban club. Talking to the girls, this club doesn’t really get super busy, it’s more of an after hours club.
