A female friend of mine and I decided to include a visit to Uptown Comedy Corner as part of my birthday celebrations. Upon looking up the address for the comedy club, I realized that comedy club has relocated from Hapeville to King of Diamonds. There is typically limited mention of KOD, so I thought it was possible that the club was no longer in operation. When we arrived for the comedy show, I noticed a sign located halfway through the parking lot advertising parking options for $20 and $40. However, there was only an empty chair and no attendant. I pulled out of the parking lot and made sure to park in the area before the sign.

The building is large and actually houses two clubs. Aria South, which to my knowledge is relatively new, is located on the left side, nearest to the street and I-75. Kingdom of Diamonds is located on ride. Upon entering the doors for the comedy show, I received a pat down and noticed dancer uniforms on display in the lobby. At that point I realized that KOD is still an active club. I’m not sure what the price of admission is as our tickets were a two for one deal that were purchased online for the comedy show.

Once you’re inside the club is spacious. A large backdrop for the comedy club covered the main stage and pole. There were small round tables and barrel chairs set up in front of the stage. There are two bars on both sides of the stage, although only the one on the left was used during the comedy show. There are raised areas with booths on both sides of the stage. In between the bars and raised areas are two smaller stages with poles.
