Decent place to avoid the tourist traps

Came here after midnight to find something different from the Bourbon Street places. When you walk in and pay the $10 cover, you enter along one of the two bars. The room opens up when you get to the end of it--the stage is basically a large M across the room, and the bars are along each side of the M.

At the bottom of the M there's an ATM, and two open rooms with a couch lining the walls where folks hung out with dancers, with an entrance to a staff-only area between those. Between the front of those rooms there were a couple tables and stools, which I thought was a nice place to sit that wasn't by the bar, so I could have a better view of the whole place. On the side opposite from where you enter is the entry to the dance area, the VIP room, and the bathrooms. The dance area was a group of booths with a chair in each; I didn't see the VIP area. The bathrooms were clean.

The register is at the bar by the door, so I got a drink once I got in. (Not sure if there's a drink requirement, because nobody pushed it on me.) I thought there was a really large range of dancers ethnicities and body types, but also a diversity in how pushy they were. So when I got there one dancer asked if I wanted a dance, and when I said no she asked for my type. I said I was looking for someone curvier, and I didn't see anyone on the floor or the stage like that yet. She basically said, gimme a minute I know someone, disappeared for like 5 minutes, and came back with someone curvier. My impression was a lot of dancers hung out in the back area when they weren't on stage or on the floor asking for dances, and came out occasionally for that.
