Friendly, low-pressure club with variety of dancers and decent dances
Casa Diablo was about a ten minute ride from my hotel near the convention center. They had a decent amount of parking up their steep driveway that appeared free. When I entered about 9:30pm on a Thursday there was nobody at the door, though I was greeted by the doorman once I'd made it about halfway into the club itself. He checked my Id and gave me a rundown on things, but didn't charge a cover.
The club had a long stage running down the center with seats stage-side and then tables along the walls. The lights were red and the club was mildly dim. That was nice in the seating area, but the stage could have used a bit more light. In a delightful change of pace, the music was not too loud. In the back was a bar that was oddly lowered from floor level. A bottle of water was $4. All change was in $2 bills (one of the club's gimmicks, along with serving vegan food).
The had a nice stage show. Two dancers were up at a time, moving from one pole to the next over the course of a couple of songs. All of them put in a performance, a couple with good pole work and the others dancing and flaunting on the floor. Some would get in the laps of customers, who were warned (as I was on the way in) to keep hands at their sides during the up-close show. Dancers got topless and then nude while performing. Expectations (again from the bouncer on the way in, and from signs stage-side) were to tip at least $2 per song to the dancers if you sat at the stage.
