Nice space, but stupidly loud, uncomfortable chairs, few dancers, and tame dance
I was at the old Follies a few times. I never quite got the hype, finding it cramped and dingy, but the dance intensity was there. The Follies name has been used several times since then, never on a club that seemed anything like the old place. The current incarnation is perhaps the most complete - a club calling itself Follies instead of another club with a "Follies dayshift" or whatever. I decided to give it a try one recent Wednesday afternoon when I was in Atlanta.

The parking is bad - cramped and uneven. I was charged $5 for parking and $5 for cover by a guy outside, and then patted down by a man in full body armor.

The club interior was nice, far less of a dive than the old Follies. It was a small club, with a central stage, a bar on one side, and a collection of tables with upholstered chairs. There were some elevated seating areas along the side walls. I was told those cost $30 to use, despite the club being basically empty. The music was also incredibly loud. I couldn't have a conversation with a dancer seated next to me even when shouting. A bottle of branded water was $5.
