Crazy Moon actually not all that crazy.
A Tuesday night just before 10:00. Parking was on the street in a questionable neighborhood, but I was under bright street lights so I didn't worry too much about my ride getting boosted while I was inside getting rides. Walk up a flight of stairs, get buzzed in, $7 cover plus, the bouncer informs me, a tip. Give him the standard $5 and grab a drink. Girl is on stage, athletic type, brown skinned with some good moves. I'm the only public in there.
The stage is to the right of the entrance up against the wall. There's two bars on either side. Another unused stage is to the left of the entrance, but it is midweek, so that's understandable. Men's room is back to the right behind the stage.
Hit the bar for a $19 CA Tito's and Red Bull. Sit down and the dancer finishes.....maybe she was just warming up or practicing, dunno-but she doesn't approach me, just goes back into the dressing room. Two more dancers come out, sit at the bar. They're bundled in hoodies. I'm sitting there, trying to pretend that I'm entertained and not bored out of my mind for several minutes when, finally, a young, fit dancer named Luna comes over to keep me company. After a short conversation, we decide to head into the back for a dance. We stop at a desk before the booths to pay $5 to the house and in we go. Dances are $15 ea and Luna had a great grind, plenty of contact and enthusiasm-good enough to keep me in there for three songs. I decide to quit there and see what else the place has to offer.
I return to where I was perched to wait for another dancer-a curvy pale red head takes the stage for a sultry swaying session. Got to give the place credit, it's a dead, empty bar and there's still girls up on stage-been to plenty of places that would not have bothered. The dance ends, I give solo applause, and then, just like before, the red head leaves without coming over to hide in the dressing room. I decide that I'm going to have to be more aggressive if I want another session in the back, so I get up and approach the hoodies when they get up and walk outside for a cigarette. Maybe I'm impatient. Maybe I was just thinking about how the night only has so many minutes in it and these minutes were feeling wasted. Maybe I just knew that there were better times to be had out there somewhere else.
Pounded my drink and left. The lack of any sort of hospitality really struck me-the whole place just felt cold. Not a good fit for a club-place was pretty lame. Perhaps management can encourage the talent to circulate more, I dunno-but I'm not sure I would bother going back.
