Mixed experience but will be back
I went to Pumps around 11 PM on a Monday night. I took the subway and then walked 15 minutes to Pumps. The area seemed safe to me. The interior is small and the layout looks basically identical to a normal bar, except for the poles behind the bar and LD room tucked in the back. The vibe is divey and the room is dark but overall everything seemed clean. No cover charge.

There were about 4 other PLs when I entered, and about 20 dancers working. Vast majority white girls, one Asian and a few black. Most seemed to be in their 20s. Most had tattoos. In my book, they were in the 6-8 range. They mostly sat around in the back of the room on their phones, waiting for their turn on the poles or for someone new to walk in.

As many other reviews have noted, the tip train here is killer. If you sit at the bar, even if you're not paying any attention to the dancers behind the bar, you're expected to tip all 4 dancers at least $1 after every song, which comes out to $60~$80 / hour just to sit there. On the other hand, LDs cost $30 per song, which I felt was an incredible value compared to my experiences elsewhere in NYC. I got a total of 8 dances from 2 girls. Dances happen in the LD room, which is a shared room, but no one other than me used it for the hour-or-so that I was there. I don't think there are any private rooms, so no extras. Dancers did not take tops off. They allowed me to touch anywhere except private parts. They gave good grinds.
