Great night at the Bird
This club has barely changed in decades. Located on the east edge of town in a mostly residential area, it isn't the easiest place to find but well worth it. And don't worry about how dark the parking lot and entire neighborhood is. It seemed totally safe.
Upon entering the club I was greeted by the owner or manager who seemed very content to sit and take the $5 cover and chatted for a few minutes since I was from out of town and hadn't visited in a while. The private dance room was near the entry, but the main bar and stage are in a relatively large open area beyond the entry. There are a few seats at the bar with several tables and chairs with a view of the stage. Sitting at the stage didn't seem to be popular and most tips were brought up to the stage.
Beers were about $5 and the bartender was very friendly as well. After taking a seat it was a very laid back atmosphere and no high pressure sales pitches. The dancers would wander and were happy to sit and talk for a few when they weren't dancing. Obviously they were hoping for private dances, but they did a soft sell for their dances and were friendly no matter a yes or a no. It was actually a pleasant conversation.
