Roll the Dice at Union Jack's
Union Jacks can be hit or miss in my experience. the bar is nice and the ladies are usually very pretty but the vibe can be slow and you can easily find yourself being ignored by girls that seem like they just want to go home. However, on a good night there is lots of fun to be had.
The bar had a $5 dollar cover if I remember and they record your ID. You walk in and a stage I have never seen be used is immediately on your right. Turn right and you'll land at the bar. The wall of the room is lined with bench seating and tables where some girls sit. The bar is clean and very modern, big glass doors filled with every bottle of beer on the market. Past the bar is the main stage. Big chairs are comfy but the stage is elevated and has a guard that prevents much touching at the stage. To the right of the stage are the private booths. They are nice with two walls on either side and a thick curtain that gives decent privacy. They're maybe little cramped, but that's not the worst quality when you are sharing it with a sexy lady. The bathroom is clean and well lit, very above average for clubs. There is an outdoor patio in the back that is fully blocked off and very private but the heaters seem to always be at full blast which is nice when it's cold but isn't great on a mild Portland evening. Music was DJ'd but I've seen some times where girls set their own music. Overall, its a nice joint.
The ladies are usually very pretty. Mostly white or Latina, with bodies that are natural or with subtle improvements. It's Portland so there are usually a lot of tattoos and dyed hair but I would be more suspicious of a club without girls like that in this town. The main issue is getting them to engage with you. A few of the times I've been here about half the girls where just sitting on their phones not talking or making eye contact with anyone. I'm not scared to make the first move but if a stripper wont even give you a passing glace you know the dance is going to suck. However, if you sit at the bar, and the stars are aligned, a beautiful lady will give you eyes and you will see the upside of Union Jack's. That is, that this is more of a lounge than a bar or a club. This is a place to sit and chat and take it slow have a few drinks and then get a few dances. The dance rotation is slow and the vibe is lowkey but not trashy. It is weird that the vibe can swing so wildly but that's just the truth. Roll the dice see what you find.
The real downside is the price. The bar itself is not a great value. Drinks are on the expensive side. $7-12 if I'm remembering right for the most basic drinks and the liquor is poured through those stupid gadgets that precisely measure the shot. This is a heinous sin in Portland. The term 'Portland Pour' is a known secret and most decent bartenders will pour generous shots in this town, but not here. Ladies drinks are upcharged heavily and I think they might charge more if you use a card. One ore two drinks wont break the bank but if you want to get drunk start somewhere else. Dances are not outrageous, 3/120-130 is about average. YMMV. Being a sexy hunk that definitely doesn't drink too much beer and eat fast food will probably give you a better deal but alas. Dances with the ladies that have taken the time to get to know me have always been fun and worth the money. Good mutual contact and the slower scene means you might have the whole dance area to yourselves. No extras even implied, this place is on the up and up. They got your ID on camera, remember?
Overall, walking in is a bit of a gamble. Worst case you spend too much for a beer and waste some singles on a cover charge. There are more high energy spots in town but I'd say this is still worth trying at least twice.
