Possibly the best value on the East Coast

On some level, Montreal's downtown clubs tend to follow a certain formula that sets them apart from clubs in the states. Cleopatra's definitely had that Montreal feel, but it differed in a couple of key ways. First, the bouncer was actually friendly rather than perfunctory. Second, the prices were great, and third the dances were more open than other clubs.

Logistics: it is directly across the street from a concert venue, Club Soda, that you can plug into your GPS and keep a clean search history. It is in a bit of a red light district: Kingdom is a block away. There is a "24 hour massage" sign in a window across the street, and I passed two adult toy stores walking from my nearby hotel to the club. Bar options aren't great on this block, but nearby food options are excellent. Street parking is much tougher here than over by the Chez Paree/Downtown/Wandas cluster of clubs. However, garages are only a couple of blocks away. Bike shares are plentiful, and I'd consider Montreal a safe city to bike in. Drink prices are cheap enough here that public transit is the way to go.

Entry: the bouncer was very nice and easily switched between French and English (as you'd expect). No cover, but you should tip the bouncer. I gave him $5. It was slow enough that I was told to sit anywhere. I ordered a bad beer from the waitress for $8.
