Solid option for Manhattan
I visited Hoops in midtown Manhattan twice while I was in the city, once late/after midnight on Sunday night, and a second time a bit earlier on Wednesday night. On Sunday there was a $20 cover. On Wednesday the guy on the street (in full pimp fur coat) waived the cover for me. Not sure if it was the same guy and he remembered me or it was random. There's a free (but mandatory) coat check on the way in. My bottle of water was about over $10 but less than $20.
Like most clubs in Manhattan, Hoops is relatively small. There's a very narrow space with a bar and a few high top tables. Then the back room opens up a bit. One side is all mirrored which makes it feel larger than it is. There's one small elevated stage, some tables and chairs, and padded benches along the wall where lap dances are done. Between TVs and stage lights and scrolling LED signs it's (too) brightly lit. It wasn't smokey and the seats were comfortable. The music was too loud.
The stage show was one dancer at a time who got topless over the course of a couple of songs. There was some dancing and twerking by most. It was a decent view, but not riveting.
