I hadn’t been to Hurricane Betty’s since the pandemic, but I had good memories of it. Those memories drew me back there. I walked through the door three times in the last year, but the pleasure that I felt at some of my pre-pandemic visits did not come back.

Pre-pandemic, I visited Hurricane Betty’s about once per year. It uniqueness was that it was a easy, quick diversion off of I-290 in Worcester. Other strip clubs between the Mass Pike and my home well north of Boston were at least 15 minutes off route, while getting to Hurricane Betty’s was just a few minutes out of route.

Physically, the place has had only one major change, the metal detector at the door. To enter the club, one has to pay the $20.00 cover, take everything out of your pockets, walk through the detector, and have your ID scanned. Even the dancers had to be screened. Their large bags with their dancewear were inspected.

Otherwise the place had not changed much. The layout was the same with the DJ booth to the left of the entrance, and the lap dance cubicles beyond the DJ booth. The bar is in the right. A large L-shaped stage is the center of attention. They had spent some money cleaning up the place. The upholstery was no longer threadbare.

For someone like me, approaching 80, with a long drive after I leave, it’s important that the dancers don’t act like they believe that they make their money at closing time, but that seemed to be case this year at Hurricane Betty’s. On one of my visits, I arrived shortly after the opening time (6 pm Sunday through Tuesday, noon the rest of the week), and no dancers had even arrived. I turned around and did not stay. Another time when I arrived, there was one dancer on stage (but only a 6 at best). But after her set was done, no one else appeared on stage for what seemed like 30 minutes. The third visit was later in the evening. The five dancers outnumbered the patrons. Over the course of the net couple of hours more and better looking dancers arrived. But they were more interested in their phones than approaching customers. I eventually chatted with three dancers and got a pair of lap dancers from one of the three. All had relatively little experience. They had only worked at Hurricane Betty’s and the longest that any of them had worked there was five months. None of the three could hold up their end of a conversation, nor flirted effectively. The third one had lovely dark waist length hair, small sweet breasts, and was physically quite attractive. She offered “fun” in the VIP room where she would be nude (at $160 for 15 minutes or $460 for 30) but I settled on two $30 lap dances. They were average and nothing great. The dances were paused a couple of times when her fish=net stockings caught on a button on my shirt.
