Sins in Paradise
Last year, out of nowhere, we went to every single club we could get our hands on. “We always go to two!” costing me a fortune. But on a weekend when no one was in town I did something wild and went to my closest strip club, my friendly neighbourhood strip club, for the first time by myself and it was fantastic.
I’ll preface the review by saying I pass by Paradise all the time, it’s on Bloor street near Lansdowne, and since moving to a place nearby it’s probably the club that started the year-of-strippers for us; it’s occupied a place in my fantasies and imagination for a long time leading up to my eventual plunge. I also read a review that changed my mind about it in the weeks preceding my visit so you could say I was the perfect customer – targeted sale.
Paradise sits at the edge of “downtown” strip clubs in Toronto and has an unfortunate rivalry with the House of Lancaster mere blocks down the street; as the de facto last club it doesn’t have the prestige of the more centrally located ones. You could say it’s the Zanzibar to HoL’s Brass Rail… but HoL is no BR. The girls in either club will ask you if you’ve been to the “other” place and at times that can be fun, like petty school rivalries fun, and at times it can be lame, rent free lame. At this end of Bloor street there is plenty of side street/residential parking though Google mappers will be let down to find out that the Value Village (now TK Home) parking lot across the street is inaccessible to them. Paradise is near enough to subway stops that you can make use of public transport but if you’re ubering from a location more DT you’re not going to spend too much money reaching.
