At Least I Didn't Fall Asleep
Delilah's has been around a long time. I think most mongers know the layout but just in case: large club in a former industrial, now frontier residential area. In a shopping center so plenty of parking. Club has a fair amount of security around the exterior and inside. The stage is a strip between two bars. Dancers descend a staircase from the second floor balcony/VIP lounge to the runway stage. Their is seating on either side of the runway and then table seating filling-out the room. Somewhere in all that is a reserved, bottle-service area.
October 23 was their anniversary party. A friend of mine likes the club so he convinced me to go. Considering the occasion and the amount of promotion they circulated I expected more of a show. The theme was "Take Me To the Movies 3" which entailed a select few individual dancers performing a dance skit based on a movie. It was fun but not that special. The entertainers were pretty but none were knockouts. During the 3 hours we were there I probably only saw about 10 different dancers on stage. Except for the performance of the Delilah's Dance team which I thought was fun and worthy of the event but most of the those dancers didn't perform during the time I was there except for the group routine. The evening culminated in a competitve pole dance routine from 6 of the entertainers who were judged by local nightlife scenesters.
Of the dancers on the shift I'm amazed any of them made any money. I was approached by only 3 dancers all night, none of whom attempted conversation before soliciting a couch dance. In fact, the massage girls were working the room harder that the dancers; 3 different women were on the floor looking to feel me up and they came around more than once. What's up with that?
