I arrived at Flashdancers early in the afternoon when things were just getting started. I tipped the first few dancers but declined a lap dance, until there were two women on stage and one of them was hot enough to motivate me to move to the other end of the stage to see her better. When she'd finished her set, she persuaded me to buy a lap dance, which was well worth the $20. By that time, there was another dancer on stage, a black woman with an even more gorgeous body, so shortly after she'd finished her set, I asked her for a dance as well, and that was even better. I'm sorry I don't remember either of their names, and also sorry that I waited until my last day in NYC to go there - but I'll definitely go back next time I'm in town.
Calling the performers at Flashdancers 'strippers' is a slight exaggeration - most of them come on wearing a dress and a g-string, remove the dress during their first song and put it back on during the last. Some of the smaller-breasted dancers don't even remove the dress, and only hitch up the skirt to their waists. But the best ones put the 'tease' into 'striptease', and seem to love it when they get a rise out of you. I'd like the place even more if it was fully nude, not just topless, but the $20 lap-dances are still a bargain - especially by New York standards!
