Weak talent, annoying management practices
The Lansing Deja Vu shares a large building with a retail shop that sells sex toys and sexy clothing. Admission at night was $15. This is a no alcohol club, thus allowing the dancers to perform nude.
The dancers perform three song sets on the raised stage. The dancers typically perform nude by the third song.
On Thursday evening, only three of the dozen (or more) dancers were relatively slender. The others were pudgy or seriously over weight. The main room contains a series of cubicles for private dances. These main room cubicles have a cash reader into which dancers insert money after logging in with a fob that allows each dancer to keep track of her share of their dance earnings. The dances in the cubicles are timed and they start at $40. To my surprise, my dancer said that she was not allowed to dance topless or bottomless in the main room cubicle. Yes, you read that correctly, private dances at a club that advertises nudity, do not allow the dancer to perform topless or nude. That is a major change from previous practices.
