Blues at “The Blue”

First time in Connecticut in a long time, so I had to check out The Blue again, to see how times have changed. Or, in this case, not. The place pretty much looks the same as ever, with a bouncer at the entrance, dance area to the right, bar to the left, and stage straight ahead.

What has changed, for the worse, is the $20 fee to get a dance. You pay that each time you go back. I find that to be a real buzzkill as I like to sample the offerings once before diving into my commitment. I felt like I wasted $60 doing so, and it made me turn down some dancers that I might have ordinarily given a shot to.

Other than that, The Blue was similar to the past but lacking any real excitement for me. Afternoons used to be where it was at here, but this one was pretty disappointing. There were about 5-6 dancers, 3 of which I sampled. Only one was decent enough to continue with. I left having spent about $130 including my drink and the aforementioned house dance tolls.
