Afternoon at the Purple Orchid

The Purple Orchid is in a square, purple building right on the corner of the intersection. The bar almost fills the entire main room, and the stage is in the center of the bar. To the left when you walk in the door is the $20 couch dance room containing maybe 5 or 6 couches. The two $30-dollar private rooms have doors and are to the right when you come in the door. It's a fairly clean place but the men's room could use more attention. I was apparently the first customer of the day since the lights were still on and no music was playing when I arrived at 1PM. I know that's early, but I knew one of my favs would be there and I had somewhere else I needed to be later. It wasn't until a second customer came in about five minutes after me that they turned the lights down and started the music. It's nice that the lights are not so dark that you can't see the dancers, and the music is not too loud to have a conversation.

I am a semi-regular here, and the staff recognize me and are friendly with me. So, I didn't mind the delayed start. I took it as an acknowledgement that they knew me. PO is a club of mostly black dancers, but the customers are more diverse. Storm was the only dancer dressed and ready when I arrived. She is a thick Dominican who is a lot of fun and very direct. There are a wide variety of dancers here from spinners to very thick. I have not seen any spectacular beauties here, but there are some very attractive women for customers with varied preferences. You aren't going to like them all, but it only takes one to make your visit worthwhile.

It also, only takes one to ruin your visit, so avoid Athena (unless you're into her). She will latch on to you and will cock block you from any other girl. She won't take hints to leave, and you will have to bluntly tell her to get lost. A scene may ensue.
