I went to “the Pic” off the west end of Roosevelt Boulevard after The Pearl and OSC (both) were closing early on a Thursday night about 8:15 pm. Arrived at the Pic about 9 o’clock. Very few parking spaces in front of the club, so I drove around the block to the west and parked across the street from an all-night gas station. Plenty of lighting for my car and my walk. Rang the doorbell and was buzzed in. Maybe 9 or 10 dancers on the floor, with two leaving as I came in. Three more dancers arrived shortly after I did, and then small groups of 2 or 3 came in at 10:15 and again at 11:00 and 11:15. Did not stay to see them all get dressed. It was not all that interesting.

As others have described The Pic is like two rowhouses butted up against each other, except that they are at different elevations. In the first room you have a long bar, a short bench and a stage that is about the size of a ping-pong table. Upstairs you have a shorter bar, a longer bench, and a small 6 by 3 stage . Both stages have 24 or 30-inch railings around them, so it is hard to get close to the dancers while they are on stage. Most of the dancers do not show very much while on stage – although a few do flash a boob or two.

When I first walked in and sat down in the middle of the long bar, there were two “regulars” getting bottomless dances from two “female friends” at the end of the bar. They were discreet, but not invisible. Never saw any other bottomless action the whole night.

Shortly after sitting down I was approached by “Kiwi” who walked up to me and greeted me with a Pic handshake. I returned the favor and asked her for two dances. I should have taken more because although she is not the prettiest face in the house, she has nice curves and a VERY PLEASANT personality. Later in the evening after I had tried dances with several other girls, and watched even more girls sit on their bar stools without interacting with anyone other than themselves, I whispered in Kiwi’s ear, “I think you are the only one in here who likes to dance.” She laughed and said “Yes. I know what you mean.” This is definitely not La Pearl on a good night.

Cover charge was $12. Beer was $8.25. Dances were $10 each – one long song and one un-exceptedly short one. (I paid the whole $10 in appreciation for the attention Kiwi had showed before we started counting songs.) Several of the unenthusiastic dancers beg-for-a-buck or two after not doing much on or off stage. Watch out for the money-grabbers. Don’t feed the animals less they become more aggressive and not perform for their dinners.
