Spinning Its Wheels; Rumors of Closing Abound
I went on a Saturday night the weekend the NHL season opened up (though the Leafs were on the road). It was only about half-capacity yet that didn't stop them from saying the club was "full" and demanding that entry required either: (a) paying $30 (used to be $20) for admission to the Upper Brass or; (b) paying $10 to gain entry to the mezzanine, which is a level on the second floor that is separate from the Upper Brass, where you can chill by a small bar and there is a private dance area.
I went for (b). I paid my $10 and walked up the stairs to the mezzanine level. That said, once inside, I could move about as I pleased. The mezz sucked and the bar was crowded so I went to the floor level and grabbed a beer for $11.25 (added a tip). Found a seat at the bar and chilled there.
Girls were in the 6.5 to 8 range, and most looked about 27-35 years old. There seemed to be quite a few Eastern European and Persian chicks on this night. Music, while usually lame, was a slight uptick better than usual on this occasion as they actually allowed some twerk music as one white girl strutted her stuff around 1:30 a.m. as the night drew to an end. This at least amped up the usually tame atmosphere.
