An Ode to Marty Robbins
I wasn't feeling optimistic after reading the reviews, but I hadn't been to El Paso in years and figured I'd give Buck's a shot. It was a Monday night around 7pm, so expectations were low.
The club is right off Gateway, easily accessible and parking is in a mall lot, well-lighted and free. The physical club itself was actually in good shape. It appeared, as others have noted, to have been updated in the not-too-distant past. It's a roomy place, but the placement of booths around the outside of the seating area make for fewer single seating choices. The booths are apparently an upsell for higher rollers than myself; on this night, only one in my vicinity was occupied, with a single customer, a couple of dancers, and a bottle of something.
$10 cover charge for entry, payable to a woman working the counter as you enter. The counter's is in a hallway of sorts, which you continue down into the main area. The large bar is at one end, with a small second stage near it. The main stage is more centered, with the single seating and booth mentioned above surrounding it.
