Sundowner is, once again, a downer
I feel like Sundowner has always been hyped as one of the best clubs in Canada, if not the world, and while it's a fine enough club, I just don't get it. My first time here was about 8 years ago on a Saturday. Back then it was busy and there were amazingly hot women around, but even then it felt like most other things in Niagara Falls: rushed, overpriced and, frankly, not worth it. Sadly, I feel like it's even worse now.
The club layout is somewhat typical. There's a foyer with a payment booth and you walk past the booth to enter the main floor. The bar area is back and to the left. The stage is in the middle of the club and, from what I could tell, there are two lap dance areas that are best described as "semi-private". The room to the right (as you enter the club) of the stage is smaller but more private. The room to the left is larger and the privacy really depends on what booth you get taken to. In general, it's a fine enough club: certainly not the biggest or fanciest but not a dive.
Now to why I think it's overhyped and just not worth it: I arrived around 8:30 pm on a Wednesday night and it was DEAD. No one on stage and maybe, and this is being generous, there were 10 girls in the club. Perhaps there were more girls backstage but they certainly weren't making their presence known. The entire time I was there (8:30 pm until almost 10 pm), I only saw one girl on stage despite the fact that by 9:30 pm at least 10-20 more girls had arrived. Despite the added numbers though, the quality did not match that of my previous trip from 8 years ago. The girls were hot mostly in the 5-8 range, but 8 years ago that range extended in to the 9s and 10s. Perhaps that was a product of Wednesday vs. weekend day since my previous trip was on a Saturday night.
