Comprehensive review. Good club with just OK dances.

This review is a combination of several visits I’ve made in the months of May and June. I’ve recently had some extra time on my hands and found the opportunity to visit on occasion.

The place: The Bar is located on the outskirts of west des moines just past a cornfield and near a river. It is BYOB with drinks available to buy out front. Wine or beer allowed no hard liquor. They do a drink check at the door to make sure this policy is followed. Cover is $15 with ID check at the door. They do not scan your ID. A $20 bracelet purchase is required if you want to do VIP dances. There are 2 dance types offered “private” $30 and VIP $40. (More detail on this later) There is 1 oblong stage that takes up over half the club with seating all around. Bathrooms are clean with no troll attendant. There are 3 pool tables $1.00 per play and a dart machine. Plenty of TVs with sportsball and ESPN on continuous play. Food options are limited to a food wagon/truck that is only available on Fri Sat nights after 11 or so with decent sandwiches and gyros.

The Scene : the club doesn’t have a day shift and opens at 7 but don’t bother coming till after 8ish as they don’t start the stage show until around 830. You can get dances with girls as soon as they open but pickings are kind of slim. However the songs prior to stage open are a bit longer so you might get a little longer bang for your buck. Once the stage show starts you’ll typically get about 6 girls or so with more coming in till about 11ish. On a good weekday you see about 15 girls at most on weekends about 20 to 25. The hustle factor is very low with most girls choosing to sit by themselves or hide backstage in between stage sets. There are some that make the rounds but it is usually a very soft sell. If you want to get a dance with a girl you will most likely need to ask her to come by while she is on stage or approach her vs waiting for her to come by. It’s a very low key scene with a mix of blue color works and some nicer dressed patrons.
