Don't Bother
I met some friends in DC for drinks and decided to check out Mpire on my way home. I arrived about 10 on a Wednesday night. There were 3 bouncers on the street. One escorted me inside, no cover charge but ID scan and lecture about no touching blah blah. He then radios someone "one coming up." The club was on the second floor, although a dancer mentioned that there is a first floor that they open on Friday/Saturday night if it's crowded.
Once on the second floor, you walk through a beaded curtain into the club itself. The place is tiny. 3 stool bar along the right hand wall with two tiny round stages on each end of the bar. Bench seating all along the left hand wall with maybe 10 small tables. No other seating available (not that there's room for it). One of the omnipresent bouncers (I guess the guy who got the radio call), seated me at a table near the entrance. Seriously, there must have been 10+ bouncers in tuxes in this tiny ass club.
I gave the waitress my beer order and she asked for ID and credit card. I replied that I just wanted to pay for the one drink in cash. Turns out it was $14 for a Miller. Jesus.
