I was there last Tuesday afternoon....

I was there last Tuesday afternoon. Realized that I had not been to Florida for over a year. So this was my first time to visit the new Tootsie's.

I was disappointed when compared with the old Tootsie's. It is just another case of where the management tries to go "up-scale" with a club and usually takes it down. The old Tootsie's was a "fun club", with unpretentious girls that also liked to have fun. The atmosphere was also not pretentious. The new club lost the good feeling of its predecessor.

What I saw was just another big club. A well done big club, but nothing different that some of the big clubs in Las Vegas, for example. As you can tell, I was not as happy as I used to be. And apparently others agree with me. Before the change Tootsie's was number 2 and/or number 3 in the TUSCL top 40 clubs. It is now number 30.

I was there 12:30 to 2:00 in the afternoon. To its advantage there were more girls than guys. They managed to have different girls on stage (for only 2 songs each) for a hour before repeating the rotation, with the club only opening at noon. But after their set, most girls disappeared.

The club has an interesting layout with a balcony overlooking the place. During the days, there is no charge to go up there, so I tried it. It had a slightly better atmosphere than the main floor, but I don't know whether the surge charge at night would be worth it.
