Ass Night 2023

Stopped into Sugars on the way home from seeing a friend’s band play. One of those nights where you and everybody else know the guy in the band, but you don’t know anyone else there. Not technically a “fun” activity. My buddy’s band wrapped up at 11:30, we hugged it out and I made tracks for Seattle’s notorious state route-side HJ Palace. Sugars is located on the old Route 99 which is the home of street walkers, auto dealerships, fast food joints, AMP jack shacks, no-tell motels, Bikini Baristas, and you get the idea. A shit hole where everything is for sale.

The Uber dropped me in front of the club, and like any sensible middle aged white dude, I made a beeline for the front door. No problems. You CAN get mugged out there at night, but not if you do what I do. Once inside, a mafia-lite doorman with 95+ IQ (genius level in this line of work) took my $15 and asked which non-alcoholic drink I wanted. Soda water, Vinny, always soda water. Because you guys can’t even get a diet coke right.
