Dream Girls - A hit-or-miss proposition

Dream Girls
12 N 5th St Minneapolis, MN 55403
Dream Girls is part of the Deja Vu business, kind of the grittier, less upscale stepsister. The actual premises are pretty nice, sitting on the second floor above a downtown "party bar." Depending on the time (I think), a drink at the downstairs establishment earns you admission upstairs. The space is pretty nice, with one main stage facing a tiered-room with a mix of low- & hightop tables. No alcohol here as the dancers can choose to be fully nude. Speaking of the dancers, you never know who might be working. Generally speaking, the dancers are racially diverse and range from extremely hot to I'm-not-even-gonna-stick-around-today. Also, dancers seem to have their own "rules", and mileage will vary according to the dancer. The bouncer generally stays out of the way, and I have gotten very nice mileage from the "bed dances". Very nice, e.g. groping of ass, breasts, legs and digits in both glory holes. At the same time, some dancers are much more "by-the-book" and I always make sure expectations are clear and agreed upon before heading to the booth-like enclosures where the bed dances occur. The bed dances are, if you find the right dancer, a very good deal. It used to be 3 songs for $100, plus whatever tip you offer. I say "used to be" as, on my last visit, I did not find a dancer from whom I wanted a bed dance, and stuck to the $20 lap dances in the main area. Again, this experience will vary according to the dancer, but safe to say the mileage will be less than with a bed dance. On my last visit, as I said, I stuck to lap dances. I got a few with a very hot asian dancer and a couple with an older-but-still-hot dirty blonde. Unfortunately, neither gave me the impression that much more would happen with a bed dance and the lap dances were pretty typical fare. Why did I do more than one? Because each dancer was hot enough that I was hoping the investment would pay off with a better time in the bed dance booth. Alas, that was not to be and I did not even try the bed with either. Sorry, I don't remember the name of either dancer as, again, what they offered was not very memorable. Dream Girls can be a good experience if you have a few hundred dollars to spend and bide your time and find the right dancer for you. Sometimes you will, sometimes you won't; the same as most clubs, I suppose. One unfortunate and more recent aspect of a Dream Girls visit is, because of its location right in front of a major downtown Light Rail Station, you must often pass through a large and loitering crowd to get there. One way around this is to enter the stairway through the downstairs bar, but, it is still tough to feel / be discreet. Further, during the evening, 5th St. & 1st Ave can be a somewhat "dicey" area despite being in the heart of a major downtown entertainment district. All in all, as I said, Dream Girls can be a good time with the right girl. I have been there when there were only 2-3 dancers in whom I had no interest as well as when there have been 10-plus dancers, many of whom were very hot and, umm, "friendly." I'll close by saying that the bar downstairs- Sneaky Pete's- seems to very intentionally employ a very alluring staff of female bartenders. If Dream Girls isn't offering what you're looking for when you visit, you can, at least, sit at Sneaky Pete's and drink a beer as you ogle the bartenders and think about what could have been upstairs. Good Luck, Gents!
