Shameless in Toronto
New Locomotion looks pretty nice from the outside. It’s in a big space at the end of a well-kept strip mall—looks like it could have been a furniture store at one time. There was no one manning the door, so I just walked in without paying a cover, even though it was about 8:30 on a Friday evening.
It’s not as nice looking on the inside, but not terrible. It has a futuristic look, with some metallic trim and some big round things hanging from the ceiling that reminded me of flying saucers. I kind of liked the theme, but it was showing some wear and tear.
The club is basically one big open room. There is one large stage opposite the entrance, table seating in between. The bar is on up a couple of stairs in an elevated area to the right of the entrance. There are tables and chairs along the edge of the elevated area, but the bar itself was for waitress service only. When I went to the bar, the bartender took my order, but then called over a waitress and had me pay her. I can’t remember exactly, but I think it was $10.50 CAD for a beer.
