This review covers two visits to Bourbon Street Circus in Phoenix, Arizona on Thursday afternoon May 25, 2023 from about 2 to 3:30 and Sunday evening May 28, 2023 from about 9 to 10 (Sunday of Memorial Day weekend). The club is on Thomas Road, a main commercial street at 29th Street. As an aside from where comes the arrangement where all the numbered N-S ways east of Central Ave are called streets whole all on the west are called avenues? The club is a standalone building within its own free parking of adequate size although on the evening visit about 10 spaces were coned off.. Entering in the afternoon there was a guy at the door who just waved me through with no cover or other formalities. In the evening a gal at the entry booth collected an $8 cover and gave me a receipt to give the bouncer who escorted me to a table, why this is necessary in a club about 10% full is beyond me. Entering this very dark club in the afternoon from bright sun it takes quite a while for ones vision to adjust. As you enter to the left is a long bar. In the main part of the room there are three stages, the center stage juts out front he right wall halfway along its length and there are two smaller stages near the front and back of the room. Only the center stage was used during both visits. It was not large with one pole in the center and four other poles at its corners. Basically no chairs at the tip rails of the stages and the rest of the room was filled with small tables with two or three chairs. Overall the club is fairly large and can hold quite a large crowd at busy times.

As a whole the physical plant seems pretty new and in good shape. As mentioned the club is quite dark. There are red cubes suspended from the ceiling and on all the tables. Some smaller blue and green lights interspersed as well. The lighting is all fixed, none of the rotating or flashing lights found in some places. There are a number of screens on the walls showing sports. A waitress came around and I ordered a generic bottled water for $5. Other than this one time no pressure to buy drinks. About 10 dancers in the afternoon and 15 in the evening and perhaps 15 customers each time. They managed to keep a dancer on stage all the time although there was little tipping a the stage. Dancers did only one song, removing the top early on in the song. Songs seemed to be full length. Most of them used the pole pretty well, despite a low ceiling. Sounded like an electronic DJ .The dancers seemed mostly young and trended to the tall, slim, small and medium breasts type. Certainly no weight problems here. Some tats but not a lot.

Of the three dancers I talked with in the afternoon visit one appeared foreign born and the other two regular Americans, one white and one AA. I did laps with these last two. Lap dances were $20 per song paid to the dancer after the dances. No other prices were quoted. The dances were done in a row of booths along the back wall and two steps up. The individual cubicles had only half height side walls and were open on the ends so not particularly private. They had shelves to put your drink. Usual padded bench seats. Both dancers waited for a new song before beginning, and I said to continue between each song. The separation between songs was always clear. I did 5 songs with the first dancer. Top came off early in the first song and generally the mileage increased through the set. I would rank mileage as high, but not quite very high, with lots of two way touching up top, some stick shifting etc. I only did one song with the other dancer. I probably would have done more but she was called to the stage and I didn’t want to wait.
