Crazy night at Diva’s

My husband and I were drawn in by the promise of $5 dances on Wednesday night. The club is not in the best part of town but once you get there it’s actually a pretty deserted area, so felt safe. They charge $10 for parking along their own parking strip but you can just park across the street for free. A dancer on her way out accosted us and said “I’ll get naked for you guys!”

At the door we paid $45 each for vip (so we could get lap dances). Strangely, we had to pay our cover in cash only. We were given two wrist bands, one for entry and one for vip. They did a quick check of my purse. Some entrants were wanded as well but we weren’t. I had a half bottle of wine in my purse. I think I was supposed to buy a cup for $5 to drink it in the club, but no one said anything so I just drank from the bottle.

As soon as we went in two women grabbed us and led us straight back to vip for lap dances. We quickly escaped as they were not our type but tipped them $5 each which they seemed happy with.

We found a spot to sit and survey the club. There are three stages, one large main Stage with a huge projection tv behind it, playing sports this evening. A bit distracting but whatever. The women dance 3 songs on each stage. Their state of undress appears to be totally up to them. The dancing was almost entirely just ass shaking. Only a couple of the women did anything with the pole.

This place plays a Cuban radio station for their music. Kind of loud hip hop, some in Spanish, some not. Patrons are almost all Hispanic men. Baseball caps and jeans. Dancers are virtually all Cuban, most don’t speak much English. Some thin, most medium build to heavy. A few pretty girls, quite a few not so pretty.
