Trumpp

Haven't seen a review of Trumpps in awhile, so I made a trip to the club this past Wednesday (5/24). Hadn't been there since November of last year, and prior to that, a few years. As all Detroit mongers know, the Detroit clubs have taken a massive hit these past few years.

Trumpps has valet, which I used (sadly don't recall the amount), although it is possible to park on the street in front of the club. As you enter through the main doors, there is an admission/coat check room to your right. I arrived at 9 pm and admission was $20.

You then enter through a second set of doors, with the bar slightly to your right. It appeared to have seating for around 15 people. I sat at the bar near the entrance. My domestic beer was 8+tip.

The club has one long stage with tables around it and booths on the the outside. I didn't inquire on the booth cost. There is also an upstairs where the DJ is. From my trip in November, this is also where the LDs take place. This trip I didn't get any dances. There were no more than 10 patrons in the club, the entire time I was there (about 2 hours). Lighting fluctuated with what was being played on the TVs and large video screen. Rap is the name of the game musically here (or at least Wednesday nights). Overall though the lighting was dim, but not pitch dark, and the music wasn't overpowering.

The club had black dancers except for one white dancer. The majority of the dancers were "thick" in various ways, although there were a few slim goodies there (my preference). There are a few I'd like to visit upon on my return, provided they're not busy with other customers. I did have some decent conversation with a couple of the dancers. The VIP entrance price was quoted to me a $25 (don't know if that's every time), and $20 a dance. The dancer that quoted me those prices had to excuse herself to retrieve her purse from a booth. She then handed me off to her buddy, who I had no interest in. Had she returned she could of gotten some VIP time with me. I left shortly after that, but will return. All in all it was an entertaining time.
