Quiet Thursday.
The Playhouse is a single story pink building, set back a bit (but not much) from a busy road, heading north out of Burlington. Upon entering you notice how dark it is, but the room is largely taken up with a large oval bar, with a raised stage running the length of the club in the middle. Down the sides and at the back are the Private rooms, where dances run at $30 a song. It's a byob place but they will keep your beer cold for you, while sodas run at $5 a go.
Being a Thursday afternoon, I was expecting it to be a lot busier, but at any one time, there seemed to be 6-8guys at the bar, with about 15 girls on duty. Great for the guys but not for the girls, who were largely in the 30-50yrs age range (I guess) and Brazilian, plus a couple of Asian and one African American. The girls each do a couple of songs on the stage, but with so few viewers, most hardly made much effort, which is probably understandable, but didn't help lift the atmosphere. After each turn on stage each dancer joined the dollar parade, often featuring the well known handshake. After a while I went back with Kiana, who greeted me like a long lost friend, and we had a few very handsy dances together. After a short rest, I spotted Jennifer, who'd returned after a long break. She looks somewhat different now, with her hair longer and darker. I've got fond memories of our previous dances and we went back for more and I left a happy man. I was so happy to meet her again, as I'd thought she'd retired from the scene, but not yet!
One additional comment though. While I do appreciate them providing the dancers schedule, I wish the management would go vack to texting or posting on line. The move to use recorded messages isn't very helpful if you want to compare particular days or look for a particular dancer.
