sinclair's Review
I hit up Deja Vu on a Friday night at 23:00. The cover charge was $25, but I was able to get the cover knocked down to $15 with a free admission pass. I paid the cover charge to the manager who was also doubling as the bartender at the juice bar. There is booth seating available for $25, but nobody paid for premium seating the whole time I was at the club. The crowd was mostly mixed groups and groups of younger guys. Since this strip club does not serve alcohol, the minimum age to enter is eighteen. You get unlimited refills on soda and juice. I would tip the waitress a buck every time she got me another Coca-Cola. There was no pat down or metal detector, so I was able to sneak in a flask of alcohol. This club must have one hundred cameras in the ceiling, so the only place I was able to hit the flask was in the washroom. The waitress, Mallorie, was a complete knockout. The ATM has a maximum withdrawal of $500 per transaction, and it charges a 15% fee.
Not too much has changed since my last foray to Deja Vu back in December 2019. However, there were a couple key things I noticed: (1) There were a lot fewer dancers on a weekend night shift than in the past. It was typical for there to be close to thirty dancers on a Friday or Saturday night in the past. Tonight there were only seven dancers. (2) Stage tipping seems to be a little more restrictive compared to the past. Chairs have been removed from the tipping rail at the stage. At one point a customer tried laying down on stage and having a dancer take a dollar out of his mouth. This is a pretty common thing over at Omar’s downtown. The DJ started screaming and saying they could no longer allow that. The DJ said the governor has had the club under a microscope and has been sending in undercover people to try to bust them. (3) In the past, there would be dance specials offered every thirty minutes on Fridays and Saturdays. They were only calling the promotions about once every two hours due to the high customer to dancer ratio. Customers were willing to pay full price for lap dances due to the short supply of talent.
Dancers at Deja Vu tend to be younger than the dancers at other clubs around town. Deja Vu is kind of known as a starter club for dancers under twenty-one. Most dancers are Caucasian. Dancers would do two songs on stage, getting nude on the second song. One thing I will commend this club on is they enforce their dancers getting completely nude on stage. There is nothing worse than going to a nude club and only seeing dancers strip down to topless. The main stage has two poles. There are two round satellite stages, each with one stationary pole, in the seating section that were not being used. There is a drink hustle, but it was not too bad this time due to there only being one waitress working. Typically, if a dancer sits down with you or is headed to the VIP or couch dance area with you, the waitress is supposed to approach and put you on the spot, asking if you want to buy the dancer a drink, which I believe is $10. I always refuse, and the dancers don’t seem to be too offended. I think if a dancer is able to get a certain number of guys to buy her nonalcoholic drinks during her shift, she is rewarded with a lower house fee.
