First visit to the reboot of DiCarlo’s
The club formerly known as DiCarlo’s has reopened as The Red Envelope. Being briefly in town on business and having never visited this place under either incarnation, I decided to TOFTT and give it a look. This was quite late on Monday and I was not surprised to find the place pretty dead. I paid the $25 late-night cover and sat down at the bar.
The bar runs along the left side of this small club and seats maybe 12? Across from the bar is a large stage with a pole and stools that are arranged behind a short wall far enough from the stage to require that you fold your tips into a paper airplane (or crush them into a ball) if you hope to deliver them to the stage. I am told that the dancers will do the rounds after a dance to save you this effort. Not my favorite arrangement.
At the bar I sat between two white Caucasian dancers and ordered an Irish coffee ($15). A large sign above the bar reads “ONE DRINK MINIMUM”. At the stage was a black dancer and a couple more sat further back where there were a number of tables and chairs. None of these ladies was drop dead gorgeous so I just sipped on my drink and waited for someone else to make the first move.
