I might have been tired but the club was not

Flew down to SD arriving at 5:45 pm. Caught the city bus to the Blue line and down to the border. Quick crossing (guard looked at passport and waived me through). Stopped at pharmacy for supplies and grabbed a HK shuttle to the club ($2 tip). Checked into Cascades for 3-nights ($175 for a double including $35 deposit for mini bar), simultaneously purchasing my VIP card ($60) at the booth next to check-in for the discount. Up to room on 6th floor to clean up and down to club. Swung by front desk for VIP drink coupon ($1 tip) and then to the bar to exchange the coupon for a beer ($1 tip). I don’t drink when in TJ, rather carry the beer around to keep the meseros from bothering me.

Made the rounds: Chavelas was Blocked off at the back, only accessible through the entrance by the main stage. Also, given it was Sunday night, the third floor and extension past the VIP area were closed. Otherwise, everything was as it has been in the past.

The crowd was surprisingly lively for a Sunday night. A couple open booths but otherwise pretty full. Easy enough to walk around but still busy at the typical choke points.
