Not a bad place to just chill
Dream Girls is a fairly large club in an industrial area of Lincoln Park on a street off Outer Drive. The parking lot isn't extremely well-lit, but has always seemed safe enough. I rolled into the lot at 11:45 on a Friday night and it looked pretty busy. Upon entering the building, I was asked for ID by the gruff bouncer, and I checked my coat with the sweet looking short-haired door girl. Cover was $15.
I walked in and found that it was indeed a very busy night. It wasn't quite packed, so I did manage to find a table by the elevator with no trouble. The club itself is a higher-end club, not quite as flashy as Flight Club, but it's definitely not a dive. The upstairs area has more seating and a bar, and the rooms where dances take place. I didn't go up this visit, but unless things have changed, the main dance rooms are fairly exposed, with only beads as curtains. There are more private VIP rooms with actual doors and various costs depending on time spent.
The lighting in the club was reasonable but the music was louder than I'd have liked. They play a mix of mostly Hip-Hop, Rap, and R&B/Pop, at a volume that makes it difficult to understand the DJ when he's announcing dancers' names. Fortunately, DG provides a board near the DJ area that lists each dancer's name. I try to choose a seat near the board so I can make note of who's up.
