Upscale, Outrageously Expensive, 7-Down Club

Uptown Cabaret is in downtown Charlotte. Apparently, “uptown” is what Charlotteans call “downtown,” for reasons unknown. It’s convenient to the downtown hotels, and was easy walking distance from my hotel, but it was very cold, so I drove.

There’s a tiny, wedge shaped free parking lot in front of the building, and a big pay lot across the street. They were several open spaces in the small lot in front when I pulled in at about 11:00 p.m. on a Tuesday evening, and the big pay lot was virtually empty. Obviously, not a busy night.

The cover charge was $15, no discounts available. There is a small, L-shaped bar to the left immediately past the entrance, so I found a seat there and ordered a beer ($7). This bar is in a small, elevated area.
