Black Wednesday Was a Fun Wednesday

If you know in advance that you're planning to check out this club, go to their website and sign up for their text message list. A couple of times a month they send out notices about special events where you can get discount dances and/or free admission just by showing the text. One of these, offering both, came to me earlier in the day on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. I was expecting to be in Chicago that night (and planning to check out a club or two) anyway, so that pushed me to go to Polekatz instead of a couple of closer options.

The club is located in a shipping-focused area near exit 17 on I-294, so it's relatively easy to get to. They do have valet parking, but I've never used it on any of several previous visits; most nights, you can find free parking on one or both sides of the (very wide) street it's on if you're able and willing to walk a little. (I've never had to park more than the equivalent of a block away, and at night there are no other businesses on the same street open.) They have an enclosed space for smokers outside and a free hat/coat check on the inside. The club has a sizable roster of suited bouncers who may pat you down at the entrance and will usually escort you to a seat on arrival.

The club on the inside is one of the most spacious in Chicagoland. The main floor surrounds a long, raised two-pole stage with high tables and chairs, with the bar on the south end. Slightly raised booths surround the main floor on the perimeter, with a special raised area with a separate stage and pole on the far south. The couch dance room for the main floor is in a SW corner. There is also a VIP level a good 10' or more above the main floor, which has its own stage, bar, couch dance room, and seating area nearly as big as some small clubs. Either because I was using a free pass or because I was dressed up some for a change (perhaps both?), I was automatically led up to the VIP level this time - my first time up there. Get a table near the banister and you have an excellent view of the main floor.
